Bone Broth, What's all the Hype?
I know, I know...everyone is talking about Bone Broth. So what's it all about?
Bone broth is full of Collagen. Collagen literally repairs the walls of the intestines and heals leaky gut. Some are saying Collagen is just as important to overall digestion as probiotics, say what?! Collagen is also a rockstar for skin, hair, nails and joints, basically makes you glow from the inside out! Leaky gut, IBS, colitis or Crohn's? This is for you, bone broth heals the walls of the intestines. Bone broth also draws out important minerals from the bones and marrow, plus it has loads of protein. It fills you up, makes your insides feel yummy.
It's wonderful for women to drink during and after their periods to replenish the blood and balance hormones. Also makes the perfect gift to postpartum moms, plus chocolate of course :)
You can make it one of two ways, with 3-4lbs of beef bone or a large whole chicken.
Roast the beef bones at 400 for an hour to pull out the impurities.
Or roast a whole chicken with your favorite seasoning for an hour and half at 375 or till cooked through. Remove all meat and skin. Keep the bones!
In a crockpot add carrots, celery, salt and pepper, onions, apple cider vinegar and bones. Fill crockpot with water to the top. Cook on low for 24 hours. Strain contents in a large pot or bowl. Funnel broth into mason jars or anything that seals well. Drinks within a week or freezes great!
What you'll need:
- 3-4lbs of beef bone or one large whole chicken
- 2 Tablespoons Apple cider vinegar
- salt and pepper to taste
- 3 large carrots
- 1 celery
- 2 onions
Optional: I like to add Italian seasoning and a bay leaf or two.
