Get to Know Emily, True North's Newest Board Certified Acupuncturist and Herbalist!

Welcome Emily! Emily is a board certified acupuncturist and herbalist, plus she is a reiki master…acupuncture and reiki together, oh my! Her passion lies in treatment all things mental health, digestion and chronic illness.

Emily grew up in Lakewood, Colorado and despite not being a true native, considers Colorado to be her home. After struggling with undiagnosed chronic illness from an early age, she embarked on a journey to find alternative ways to manage symptoms and found that holistic medicine such as Reiki, acupuncture, and herbology provided impactful changes that improved her quality of life significantly. This inspired Emily to learn more, and she knew that she wanted to deepen her knowledge so she could pay it forward to help others.

In addition to acupuncture, Emily is a trained Usui and Karuna Reiki Master with over 13 years of experience in energy work. She has found that the combination of Reiki and acupuncture is very complementary, and often combines the two modalities together for deeper relaxation and healing. While able to treat a variety of health conditions, Emily specializes in treating emotional issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, PTSD, as well as digestive problems, and helping manage chronic illness for overall wellness.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrative Healthcare from the Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2016, which provided a solid foundation in both biomedical science as well as alternative and complementary medicine. Emily graduated from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine with a dual focus of acupuncture and Chinese herbalism. She is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Colorado, CPR and Clean Needle Technique (CNT) certified, and nationally recognized as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Outside of the clinic, Emily enjoys music, reading, playing with her cat, traveling, and spending time in nature.

What have been your career highlights (so far)? Helping create space for patients to relax and unburden from the stressors of life, whether that is physical or mental, and seeing the positive ripple effects in the rest of their life (better sleep, better energy, more centered), is the most rewarding part of my career!

What’s your goal in life? To always keep learning, growing, and expanding my horizons. To empower others to help themselves on their healing journeys. To listen more than I speak, live with integrity from my heart, and always do my best.

Favorite movie? Howl’s Moving Castle.

#1 bucket list trip? So hard to choose- my travel dreams are big! Currently, it’s New Zealand.

Favorite thing in the world? A rainy day spent with my partner and kitty cat, bundled in blankets, drinking tea and reading a good book. Heavenly!

Biggest challenge? Balancing the desire to do all of the things all of the time (work, travel, be social, etc), and the often contradictory need to slow down to take care of my physical and mental health. I’ve gotten much better at it but it’s definitely an ongoing dynamic process!
